Metavision Guide
A practical Blue Lock: Rivals guide to scanning, spacing, and turning Metavision-style information into repeatable 5v5 decisions.
Metavision is information before action
Metavision-style play is less about pressing every button and more about seeing the next two options before the ball arrives. Scan the lane, identify the nearest pressure, and make the decision that keeps your team’s shape useful.
The three-scan loop
- Before receiving: look over your shoulder and locate the open teammate or the defender who is stepping out.
- At first touch: decide whether the ball is a pass, carry, or shot. Do not wait for pressure to make the decision for you.
- After release: move again. A pass is not the end of the play; become the next passing lane or cover the counter.
What it gives you
- Earlier decisions under pressure
- Cleaner support angles in 5v5
- More value from a simple Style
What breaks it
- Tunnel vision on the ball
- Scanning without a role or destination
- Chasing a highlight instead of resetting shape
Role cues
Striker
Stay on the shoulder of the last defender, then change speed when the passer can actually see you. Your best run is the one that opens a second option if the direct ball is blocked.
Midfielder
Receive side-on whenever possible. If the center is closed, recycle once and move; forcing a hero pass is usually slower than creating a new angle.
Defender
Protect the center first. Delay the attacker until help arrives, then tackle when their next touch is predictable. A safe recovery is a winning play.
Keeper
Start from the shot line, communicate the dangerous runner, and stay balanced until the attacker commits. Your first job is to remove the easy finish.
Practice drill
Play three matches with one rule: scan before every receive, even if the scan tells you to play backward. Track how often your first touch creates a second option. When the habit feels automatic, add a Flow that rewards your chosen role.
